This website archives writings from "War and Everyday Life," a seminar on the militarization of the everyday. Students in this class wrote object stories analyzing the inconspicuous military histories of mundane objects, showing how war and everyday life — two spatiotemporal phenomena that at first glance appear opposed — are inextricably intertwined.
Like the objects on display, the website is uneventful, textured, and tactile. Embracing the course's anti-hierarchical approach to pedagogy, the site resists easy hierarchy, adopting uniform text sizing across pages while images cluster, overlap, and invite reorganization.
