ANAcycle is an architecture and research practice centered on the continuous recycling and transformation of existing materials, ideas, and information. To convey these themes, project images dissolve into ASCII characters that recombine into new images—expressing the idea that nothing is created from zero, but rather emerges through the transmutation of existing elements. The website’s ever-changing color palette reinforces this idea of perpetual change by periodically cycling through a range of duotone pairings. On the homepage, the practice name responds dynamically to screen elements, creating an organic, sand-like texture. In collaboration with Jisung Park.
During the design phase, we created an experimental web tool to explore different animation effects, including Metaballs, Particle Morph, and Reaction Diffusion behaviors.
